Kristen at We Are THAT Family is hosting another hilarious week of Sincerely Fro' Me to You. After looking at the eyesore that is my contribution, go on over to her site for more giggles and belly laughs.
While living in Colombia, the only English speakers I knew were the other teachers I worked with. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time together (although it would have been better for my Spanish to go out and meet new people). Many of the teachers loved hosting themed dress-up parties.
One weekend we had to come as someone from Vegas. Of course, we were limited in our dress because none of us had packed costumes with us, and we were a bit limited in our choices of shopping venues. So many of us made do with what we had.
Some people wore all black and put a hand-made sign saying "CSI" on the back of shirts. Others just wore very little and came as Vegas showgirls. (One girl actually just came in a bra and a showgirl headdress made out of pipe cleaners.) I chose to be a bit more modest. After looking through my tiny wardrobe, I decided to go as a tourist, since I figured that most people in Vegas are tourists anyway:
Note the lovely fanny pack and dangling camera. The shorts are actually pajama bottoms with frogs on them, and while they're hard to see, I had on knee-high black socks with flip flops. I basically just chose all different patterns for the rest of the outfit.
The part that made it so embarrassing was that my friend Pat (next to me) didn't dress up, so when we were walking and taking public transportation to get to the party, I looked like an idiot all by myself. It wasn't quite enough of a "costume" to make passersby understand that I was dressed up; they probably thought I was a bit touched in the head.
Or maybe they realized the truth: I was just a dumb American tourist in their country.

Oh, dear! If I ever go to Vegas, do I have to dress like that? hahaha! Love it!
That is one GREAT outfit! Come check out mine, too!
Oh, yes that is VERY bad, but VERY good for 'Fro Me to You! I love that outfit!
Thanks for participating!
That is TOO funny!
Imagine my pain as my dad dressed like this almost our entire week in Japan. Of course, folks over there dress like 1982 so my dad just blended in,thankfully!
Great picture.
