Ten on Tuesday ~ Movies

Last week, Crayl listed her top 10 movies, and I thought I'd do the same.

I know there are ones I'll remember as soon as I post this, but these are the ones swimming in my head at the moment. In no particular order:

Lost in Translation. I don't even know how to describe it. You either love it or you hate it.

Braveheart
. Must be my Scottish roots. I usually don't like action movies. I first saw this movie in college, on campus. A bunch of guys dressed up in kilts and blue face paint to attend.

Love Actually
. Favorite Christmas movie hands down. (First runner up: The Family Stone.)

Mad Hot Ballroom
. Documentary of inner-city kids in New York learning how to ballroom dance. I swear I replayed the dance scenes at least 25 times. Those kids are freaking amazing.

The Color Purple
. This is the only movie that I can honestly say is better than the book. And I loved the book.

This is one of my favorite scenes. And songs.

The Professional
. This is where I first fell in love with Natalie Portman. She is absolutely amazing. And Gary Oldman? Fuggetaboutit. (I also love La Femme Nikita, where the professional makes his his first appearance as The Cleaner.)

Four Little Girls
. Spike Lee Documentary about the four girls killed in the Birmingham, Alabama church bombing in 1963. Very moving.

Heat. DeNiro and Pacino? How can you go wrong?

Steel Magnolias/Fried Green Tomatoes
. I'm a sucker for Southern women movies.

The Godfather
. Well, duh.

Honorable Mention:

Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, and Breakfast Club. The John Hughes trifecta.)

Sigh.

1950-2009

Ten Things I Hate About You. First movie I saw with Heath Ledger.

The Notebook. Chick flick? Yup. Still freakin' awesome? Oh yeah.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Nurse Ratched scared the heck out of me.

Little Miss Sunshine.

Four Weddings and A Funeral.

The Silence of the Lambs.

Pulp Fiction.

Shawshank Redemption.

Slumdog Millionaire.

Gran Torino/Unforgiven.
Um, pretty much anything with Clint Eastwood.

The Dark Knight.

The Green Mile.

The Usual Suspects.

The Man in the Iron Mask.

Goodfellas.

Gladiator.

Fargo.

Casino.

Glory.

Stand By Me.

American History X.

To Kill a Mockingbird.

Good Will Hunting.

Mystic River.

The Departed.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I guess I should have made it One Hundred on Tuesday....

Head over to Beyond Black and White for more top hundreds tens.

Fabulous list.
I can't believe how many on your top list I haven't seen...but how many on the remainder that we share a love for.
