A Spoonful of Sugar

Mary Poppins had the right idea when she said a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. Turns out, it also helps the hiccups go away. I've tried everything from holding my breath to drinking on the opposite side of a glass to having someone jump out and scare me; nothing worked. The only thing that works is what my mother used to do when I had the hiccups as a kid. Take a spoonful of sugar in your mouth and then wash it down with water. Works every time!

I haven't tried that in a long time. I'll have to give it a shot again. My tried and trued method is drinking water upside down. It usually works pretty fast but sometimes I end up drinking three or four cups! I would much prefer a spoonful of sugar!!
